Related Services The State Bar and the Albuquerque Bar Associations both operate a lawyer referral service where litigants can be referred to lawyers who specialize in their area of need for a $25.00 or $30.00 administration fee, respectively. The fee also covers up to 30 minutes of consultation time with the lawyer. Appointments usually take two to three business days to arrange.

It is important at the outset that self-represented persons recognize that they are required to follow the same rules of procedure and evidence as a party represented by a lawyer. It is the responsibility of every litigant, including self-represented parties, to determine what needs to be done and to take the necessary action.
